Kentaro Otani (大谷健太郎 Ōtani Kentarō, born in 1965) is a Japanese film director. He was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1965. His directing career began in the late 1990s.
Otani was born in Kyoto, Japan somtime during 1965. He graduated from Tama University where he took a workshop in film production. During college he earned an award at the 1988 Pia Film Festival for his short film, Ao Midori.
He continued working on his independent films for several years. His film Watashi to Tanin ni natta Kare wa won three awards at the Pia Film Festival in 1991. Finally he released his debut feature film Avec mon mari in 1999.
